Donald Trump has shockingly used the Masters win of Patrick Reed to promote his golf course at Doral by tweeting “Congratulations to Patrick Reed on his great and courageous MASTERS win! When Patrick had his amazing win at Doral 5 years ago, people saw his great talent, and a bright future ahead. Now he is the Masters Champion!”

Twitter was having none of the shameless self-promotion of the president’s tweet. Doral, of course, is one of the only competition courses with Trump’s name on it, and Reed had won four other competitions since his Doral victory.
The internet tore him up:
It’s always about you or your properties or your golf courses. If he didn’t win at Doral this tweet doesn’t happen. Did he tweet about Sergio Garcia last year? Hell no!!!

Only because your company owns Doral?

Someone DIED in your flagship building and you tweet trying to steal credit for the Masters champion’s success? What is wrong with you?

We all know that Trump is a ruthless self-promoter, but to claim credit for an important win of a young career is beyond acceptable and in poor taste. However, it wasn’t unexpected from him.
This marks a new low for Trump — his lack of reaction to someone dying in one of his buildings clearly displays a lack of humanity you’d think would be a given for a world leader, but clearly not in Trump. Trump isn’t just an awful politician — if today is anything to go by, then he’s a pretty awful human, full stop.
