The leaks coming out of the White House have become a MAJOR problem for Donald Trump and his team, and the sad thing is that these leaks are coming from the president’s own senior officials and aides. Trump may think that the worst has passed after his aide’s horrific comments about Sen. John McCain dying were leaked, but the nightmare is far from over.
It’s just been reported that a White House aide secretly recorded meetings with Trump so they could then replay the tapes to their friends to impress them.
“But in recent months, Mr. Trump, who has never been convinced that his aides have his best interests at heart, has felt increasingly aggrieved. He blames his staff for not delivering better headlines on key initiatives, like tax cuts or a diplomatic breakthrough with North Korea. And he sees leaks as a cause of the distractions that have helped deprive him of those headlines, according to interviews with several current and former White House officials, all who spoke on the condition of anonymity in order to describe internal discussions.”
According to the NYT, that junior aide’s recordings were discovered and prompted a severe crackdown:
“A senior White House official insisted that some of the procedures were meant to keep information secure, not stanch leaks, but other precautionary steps were taken in response to staff carelessness that fueled Mr. Trump’s sense of being undermined. In one case, a crackdown came after a junior aide was found to be taping meetings with Mr. Trump and playing them to impress friends, according to several people familiar with the episode.”
However, we all know that Trump’s White House is the leakiest administration ever. Regardless of whatever precautions Trump and his team try to take, it’s inevitable that these tapes are going to leak somehow. After all, even the meeting in which White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders yelled at staffers for leaking the McCain comments was leaked!
We can only imagine what is on these tapes, and we can’t wait to see them.
